Rab Vapour Rise Guide Jacket

Rab Vapour Rise Guide Jacket

A few times I had seen the Rab Vapour Rise guide jacket hanging in our local outdoor store.  I had already fitted him several times, and eventually, I bought it. And I still do not regret it for a second, it is my most used jacket ever. 🙂 Also for daily use in the winter. I tested the jacket in Scotland, where the temperatures were sometimes too hot for the guide jacket. But in Iceland the jacket has been able…

Exped Compression Dry Bag

Exped Compression Dry Bag

We have been looking for some time for the right compression bag, first, we used a simple “fold drybag’ but the drawback of these bags is that they don’t stay compressed by the pressure of a sleeping bag. So after a while, the ‘fold drybag’ is decompressed again. So it will keep the sleeping bag waterproof but the volume is just too big to fit in a backpack. A while later we found the compression bags of Sea to Summit ‘eVent Compression Dry…

Exped Cloudburst 15

Exped Cloudburst 15

We were searching for a relative lightweight waterproof pack. We want to use it when we climb a mountain without our heavy backpack. So it’s a pack to use when we do a short hike at the evening. When we can leave our heavy backpack in the tent.  This waterproof pack works with a roll-top closure system like most of the waterproof packsacks. The Cloudburst is a combination of a waterproof packsack and a lightweight pack. The 15 l volume holds plenty…

Aquapac Mini Whanganui

Aquapac Mini Whanganui

I use my iPhone to calculate the long exposure times. Because most of the time I make landscape and nature photos, I want a waterproof case for it. The Aquapac Mini Whanganui ensures that I can use my iPhone when it’s raining. It is not shock-proof, but that was not necessary. I used it in Wales last year during a backpacking trip and my iPhone was still dry after 3 days of rain. Pros everything works normally through the case, also the touchscreen…

Lundhags Authentic Pant

Lundhags is a company from Jämtland in Sweden. They are manufacturing shoes, clothes and backpacks. The Lundhags authentic pant is a stretch hybrid pant with an FC free DWR treatment. These stretch panels improve the movement, especially the crotch gusset gives a maximum freedom of movement. I notice this when I take…

Jetboil Sol Titanium

Jetboil Sol Titanium

A friend of ours recommended the Jetboil system. He found it very easy to use and compact. Before the Jetboil we used an MSR SuperFly stove. But this was not perfect for us. The support system of this stove is very sharp. Because of that, we found it not so easy to put it in the backpack. Because it can damage other gear. And another problem of the stove was that it wasn’t stable enough. We had plenty of times…

Osprey Aether 60

Osprey Aether 60

A few days before we go to Sweden, we load our backpack to check if we got everything and if it fits in the backpack. My backpack is a little bit too tight for our 18-day backpacking trip in Sarek and Stora Sjöfallet.During our previous hikes I used a Haglöfs Matrix 60, but this time, it’s too small. And it’s not possible to attach gear on the outside. Because we got a few days of bushwhacking. We took a look at our local…

Waterproof camerabag Koenig liteBag 2

Waterproof camerabag Koenig liteBag 2

Before this camera bag I had two other bags. My first bag was a toploading bag of Lowepro, type Toploader 75AW. The building quality is very good. But when it’s raining, the bag is not waterproof enough. There is a rain fly that you can put over the bag when it’s raining. But it didn’t work perfectly. When you are walking a long time in the rain the inside of the bags begins to get wet. Therefore I put the…

2Oookstar Trailstar nest, chikara floor and walls made of 50 CM cuben, the rest is made of mesh

2Oookstar Trailstar nest, chikara floor and walls made of 50 CM cuben, the rest is made of mesh

Before this inner tent, we have used the prototype of the trailstar nest. This was a temporary solution because our inner tent was not delivered in time. Just in time, the inner tent was delivered before we go to Norway. This inner tent is a combination of a floor of Chikara (a nylon ripstop fabric). This material is lighter than the 30D Sil nylon material that was used in the prototype. And the Chikara material is as durable as the 30D Sil-nylon. The walls…
