MSR Hubba Hubba NX

MSR Hubba Hubba NX

We have chosen for this tent mainly for the two large side-entry vestibules and the large livable inner tent. The tent is also freestanding and easy to set up. The biggest difference with the old Hubba Hubba is that this version is slightly lighter. And the zippers of the entrances are now on the side instead of the middle. The tent looks very promising. We go to Scotland  in a couple of weeks and there we will test it thoroughly.

It’s easy to set up the inner tent with the hub-and-pole system with color-coded clips. The floor is made of 30D ripstop nylon 3000mm. The rest of the innertent is made of 20D ripstop nylon and 15D nylon micromesh. The rainfly is made of 20D ripstop nylon 1200mm Durashield™ polyurethane & silicone. It’s also possible to pitch the rainfly only but then you need to buy the extra floor protector.

There are two ventilation holes at the front and back. It’s also possible to close them. When the weather is good it’s also possible to roll up the two entrances for extra ventilation.

The two large side-entry vestibules are big enough to store your backpack. Even when there is a backpack in the vestibule, it’s easy to get in the tent.

At the ventilation openings there is a place to store some small items. The rainfly is grey, this will give more natural light in the tent, the floor is red this should make it easier to find your stuff back. At the picture below you can see that the fabric is reinforced where the pole touch the rainfly.

Here you can see the color-coded clips. These clips make it easier to set up the tent correctly.

The tent weighs 1758 grams in total. There are 8 pegs MSR MiniGroundhog, 1 DAC Featherlite NFL pole and 4 guy cords included.  There is also a repair kit included for the pole. More info about the MSR Hubba Hubba NX can you find here.
